Hello, my name is Sarah and this is my story

I’m a board-certified Pediatrician of mixed Dominican and Pakistani heritage, and a second-generation American.  I grew up in Connecticut and moved to California to complete residency at UC Irvine and Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Since 2020, I’ve worked in California in an outpatient clinic setting, seeing kiddos from the newborn stage up to their college years.

My specific career interests are medical education, medical humanities, and addressing healthcare inequities. I am a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, have additional training in lactation, and am Spanish-speaking.

I help new and experienced parents feel confident in taking care of and advocating for their children.

Introduction

In today’s world, our healthcare system favors quantity over quality. In order to generate more earnings for hospital systems, appointments are short, rushed, and unfulfilling. Often, you’ll leave with more questions than answers.

Know that doctors feel this frustration, as well! My goal with this website is to offer free, easy-to-understand resources that can fill in some of the gaps that doctors often don’t have the time to delve into during visits. This includes anticipatory guidance about what to expect with growth and development, supportive care advice for common childhood illnesses, and red flags about when to seek emergency care.

What’s The Goal?

  1. One-Stop Shop: Instead of having to deal with conflicting information from multiple sources, this website aims to cover the majority of your healthcare needs. When you have questions about a mild illness and can’t get a Same Day appointment, or if you want to get ready for your newborn’s next well child visit, my goal is that you’ll think of me as your right hand in seeking advice.

  2. Minimize Misinformation: Your child is your everything, and that’s why it’s so important to make sure you’re receiving guidance from a trusted source! I try my hardest to make sure all content and handouts are in accordance with current American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.

A few fun facts about me

I love visiting new cities and countries! My favorite destinations abroad are Italy, Peru, Provence, and Colombia. Within the United States, I have a soft spot for New York City, California, and the National Parks.

Reader

I have a challenge where I read fifty-two books yearly (one for each week), and I go to used book stores to find my favorites once the year for my future home library. My favorite genres are historical fiction and investigative non-fiction.
